Hope Against Hope

Bad luck has followed the Hope Diamond ever since a jeweler bought it from India to France in the 17th century. The jeweler was killed by a pack of mad dogs. In 1793,owners Louis the sixteenth, and Marie Antoinette were beheaded. After American socialite Evalyn Walsh McLean bought the diamond in 1911, her son was killed in a car accident, her daughter died of an overdose, and her husband died in a mental hospital. Today the blue 45.52carat Hope Diamond is in Smithsonian which, so far at least remains intact.
